The people, who live in Kharkov have never idled there time away. They took part in developing of space research, improvement of agriculture, genetic science, conquering of Everest, also they engineered defense technology – the legendary T-34 tank – the best tank of the Second World War was engineered in Kharkov and the unique 3D radio-locator too. They fighted for human rights and led some pedagogical experiments. They developed cryogenic medicine, conducted microbiological researches under the direction of Illia Mechnikov, who discovered the mechanism of immunity. The beginning of nuclear epoch also started in Kharkov, when in 1932 the atomic nucleus was fissed in Kharkov Physic-technical Institute.

After the birth of Independent Ukraine the people who live in Kharkov still developing military-industrial conversion, communicational systems, creating simultaneous enterprises, reconstructing light and heavy industry.
